Divergently Browsing privacy notice
Divergently Browsing processes webpage information locally so its accessibility features can work. It does not send your browsing activity or webpage content to Divergently Being.
1. What the extension handles
To provide its user-facing accessibility tools, the extension can read and change ordinary http and https webpages. This can include webpage text, headings, links, image alternative text, page titles and website addresses. Some features also respond temporarily to pointer position or scrolling, for example the reading guide, pointer halo, magnifier and reading-progress tools.
This information is used only to provide the feature you choose or to reapply settings you explicitly ask the extension to remember. Divergently Being does not receive it.
2. Features that use webpage text
Simplified view temporarily extracts likely main text into a local reading view. Read aloud and Hover to hear temporarily pass readable text to Chrome's text-to-speech system. A voice supplied by your operating system or an installed speech engine may be used. If you choose a voice labelled as online or remote, that speech provider may process the text under its own privacy terms. Divergently Being does not receive the text or audio.
Translate selected text passes the selected text only to Chrome's built-in on-device Translator API. Chrome may download a language model for the requested language pair. Divergently Browsing does not send the selection to Divergently Being or retain the translation after the page is closed or restored.
3. Information stored on your device
Divergently Browsing uses Chrome's local extension storage. Depending on the features you choose, this can contain panel preferences, saved setups, speech preferences, ambient-sound choices, floating-toolbar position and accessibility settings.
If you choose Remember on this website, the website origin and the settings you chose for that site are stored locally so they can be reapplied when you return.
If you add a focus-list item, it is stored locally for that website. If you explicitly collect a highlight, the selected text, highlight colour, page title, source address and date are stored locally until you delete them. Copying highlights for Google Docs puts a formatted copy on your clipboard. Opening a blank Google Doc only opens docs.new; it does not give the extension access to your Google account or documents.
You can remove remembered websites, focus-list items and collected highlights from the extension. Removing the extension also removes its local extension storage.
4. Ambient sounds
Ambient sounds are MP3 files bundled inside the extension. They play only after you start them. Playback does not contact an external sound provider and does not send webpage or browsing information anywhere.
5. Analytics, advertising and sale of data
The extension does not create an account, run advertising, use analytics or sell user data. Divergently Being does not receive your webpage content, browsing history, highlights, focus lists or accessibility choices.
6. Website permissions
The extension requests access to ordinary webpages because its single purpose is to let you adapt webpages for accessibility, reading, focus and navigation. Chrome protected pages cannot be changed by the extension.
7. Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information handled by the extension is used only to provide its disclosed accessibility features and is not used for personalised advertising, credit decisions or data brokerage.
8. External links
Links to Divergently Being or Google Docs open only when you choose them. Once an external website opens, that website's own privacy terms apply.
